Blue fishing boats dominate the harbour at Essaouira.

I started this painting after visiting Morocco in 2017, since then I've worked on it from time to time over the last few years.

When the Morocco earthquake hit the headlines in September 2023 I was compelled to finally finish it.

Essaouira is a port city and resort on Morocco’s Atlantic coast.

It's medina (old town) is protected by 18th-century seafront ramparts called the Skala de la Kasbah, with brass cannons lining the walls.

Strong Alizé trade winds make the city’s crescent beach popular for paddle boarding, surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing.
