SEPTEMBER 2014

FOOT OF A TREE

A tree stem and roots of a tree in Rarotonga,

that seem to have a resemblance to a human foot.

I started painting this when I returned from travelling in 1996, but only got round to finishing it in September 2014. The island of Rarotonga is the largest of the 15 Cook Islands in the South Pacific. There is a 32km road running round the island and the interior is made up of volcanic peaks, ridges and rainforest, reached by a hiking trail, where I photographed this tree.
