10th October 2023

I have close ties with Israel.
I have visited many times over the last eight years and made good friends and met many great people whilst travelling round this beautiful land.

To see the media coverage of this week.

Hearing about the shocking events in the south, what happened at Supernova peace party, happy people dancing at dawn, it's just horrific.

Violence within Israel is nothing new.
But the scale of this violence is.

Civilians on both sides of the fence are dying in their homes and their streets, caught up in the political and ideological madness of the Middle East.

The rockets and missiles,
shootings and destruction,
the suffering.

This painting could be set anywhere in southern Israel, Gaza or any of the worlds current war zones.

It is a composition of a number of media images from the the last few days and was inspired by a sketch from a recent

life drawing class.
I deliberately positioned the figure with his feet out of the frame. His home is destroyed,

he has no where to go.

Mad World.
